Our verdict
The Momentum 4 wins the two specs that matter most to music lovers: sound and battery. It's not the quietest ANC pair on the market, and it's not the lightest — but for long-haul listening, nothing here beats it.
What we love
- Best sound quality in this lineup, by a margin
- 60-hour battery — charge once a month
- Neutral, honest tuning with aptX Adaptive
- Premium fabric and leather build
- USB-C fast charge adds 6 hours in 10 minutes
What could be better
- ANC trails Sony and Bose clearly

- Touch controls are less reliable than buttons
- Sound personalisation hidden in the app
Sound quality
This is why you buy a Sennheiser. The Momentum 4 is tuned neutral — almost monitor-like — with real texture in the mids and a treble that's precise without ever sizzling. Where the Sony rounds everything off, the Sennheiser lets you hear the room, the pick attack and the breath. On aptX Adaptive from an Android device, it's the most hi-fi wireless experience on our list. Bass is controlled rather than hyped; electronic fans may want the EQ nudged up.
Noise cancelling & battery
ANC is competent but not class-leading: it handles office noise and hum well, and lets more engine rumble through than the Sony or Bose. The battery is the story — 60 hours with ANC on is genuinely two to three weeks of daily commuting. Sennheiser's claimed 10-minute top-up for 6 hours checks out in our testing.
Comfort & build
The fabric-wrapped headband and plush earcups are unmistakably premium, and the fit is stable without clamping. At 293 g it's the heaviest ANC over-ear here, and after a third consecutive hour you feel it. Build quality is outstanding for the price — this is a pair that will look new after two years.

Final take
If you listen to music the way people who buy $379 headphones do, the Momentum 4 is the honest recommendation. You lose a little silence; you gain the best sound in this class and battery life that makes charging a distant memory.
